German-Polish Youth Office
Angelus Silesius House is a regional brand of German-Polish Youth Office.
Following the pro-democratic upheavals in Eastern Europe, the German and Polish governments initiated the creation of the German-Polish Youth Office (GPYO), modelled after the Franco-German Youth Office, which had been founded several decades earlier. The GPYO opened its doors in 1991.
It has ever since been responsible for promoting youth exchange programmes between Germany and Poland.
The German-Polish Youth Office supports also trilateral exchanges (German-Polish meetings with a third partner). In such cases the Polish or German host is eligible to receive an allowance for the costs of the programme and pocket money for the third-country guests, as well as their travel expenses from the Polish or German border. The tri-national programmes realized so far included the exchanges with the Czech Republic, France, Denmark, Lithuania, Belorussia, Ukraine and Russia.
In frame of GPYO programme Angelus Silesius House is active in:
- school exchange programmes (also with a third country)
- teachers' training
- extra-curricular youth exchange programmes (also with a third country) - youth associations and organizations, cultural undertakings, cooperation between Churches, local communities' programmes
- continuing education and training for professionals in the field.
